DMC was founded by Mike Laws, Dan Bruton and Cevat Catana. DMC was formed to challenge the status quo in engineering consulting.
The three of us met working together while at EBA/Tetra Tech on some of Western Canada’s major infrastructure projects including the Port Mann bridge replacement and Evergreen Line SkyTrain project in Vancouver as well as Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton.
In 2015, we brought our trusted working relationship to a BC-based engineering consultancy that had no geotechnical presence. What started as a blank slate quickly evolved into one of Western Canada’s most respected geotechnical teams. Over the course of a decade, we built that team from the ground up, scaling to nearly 50 skilled professionals and earning a reputation for excellence across the region.
Our growth wasn’t just in numbers, it was in impact. We secured multi-year contracts with major clients including Metro Vancouver, BC Hydro, the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, FortisBC, Wood, BC Housing, numerous First Nations, and top-tier Prime Consultants. These partnerships were built on trust, technical rigor, and a relentless commitment to quality.
Today, we carry that same spirit forward at DMC Engineering. We continue to build teams, forge lasting relationships, and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
