Cevat Catana is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with DMC Engineering, based in Kelowna, BC, with more than 20 years of consulting experience across Canada. His career spans a broad range of market sectors—including linear infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, and residential and commercial development—supporting clients through all phases of investigation, analysis, design, and construction.

Over the past decade, Cevat’s work has focused primarily on the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors, where he has delivered geotechnical investigations, advanced analyses, and design services for major operators across Canada. His technical background includes extensive experience in trenchless crossing methods, temporary and permanent shoring, rockfall hazard assessment and mitigation, bridge and building foundation design, retaining structures, ground improvement, and deep foundation systems. Cevat has also supported numerous emergency response and recovery efforts for organizations such as FortisBC, CNRL, the BC Ministry of Forests, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and regional districts throughout the BC Interior. He has specialized expertise in dynamic soil–structure interaction and numerical modelling, with proficiency in advanced software platforms including PLAXIS, FLAC and DeepEx. His modelling experience spans slope stability, seepage, pile behavior, finite‑element analysis, and seismic response.

In addition to his technical practice, Cevat has demonstrated strong organizational leadership. Over the past six years, he has led a multidisciplinary team of 50 engineers, scientists, and technologists, driving strategic initiatives that improved operational efficiency, strengthened resource planning, and enhanced client service. His leadership consistently aligned team performance with organizational goals, contributing to measurable improvements in project delivery and business growth.
